Hair Extension Consumer Information

No salon can give you an accurate price quote for extensions over the
phone. They MUST see you and do a complete hair audit to determine
your current hair length, color, density and texture to accurately match
your hair for the perfect results you are looking for.

Make sure the salon is CERTIFIED in extensions. Reputable extension
suppliers will not sell their extensions to those who are not certified
specifically through them. This is the only way a supplier can be certain
that their product will be applied correctly. If the salon and stylist is
CERTIFIED they will have a diploma from the manufacturer stating the
certification and date of certification. Ask for it! Don't just take thier word!!

There are many types of hair extensions. The most important aspect of getting a great hair extension is the QUALITY OF THE HAIR. The higher quality of hair you get, the longer your extensions will last and look great!

Synthetic Hair is a man-made fiber that is made to look like your own hair. However, it produces a different sheen than human hair, has no bounce and does not move like human hair. This hair is the most inexpensive. * Poor Quality

Indian Temple Hair - Starts out as heavy, black, Indian hair which has been bleached and dyed to reach its final color. Over time Indian hair can PULL OUT your hair from the root if your hair is not strong enough to support it. ** Fair Quality

Remy Hair - This is a name you will hear when you shop around for hair extensions. This is human hair with all the hair cuticles in the same direction. The hair is good quality but rarely has body and normally comes very straight. ***Good Quiality

Virgin Caucasian Hair - The hair is in perfect health and will stay that way for up to two years! The hair cuticles are intact and all in the same direction. The weight of the hair comes in several different density's so the clients hair density can be matched perfectly in order to cause NO DAMAGE to the clients own hair. This hair has loads of natural body and bounce. ****Highest Quality

Certified, experienced extension salons should have a portfolio of extension clients for you to view. If they do not have a portfolio DO NOT allow them to put extensions in your hair.

Experienced extension salons will give you a written price quote and guarantee! Ask for it.

A quality extension salon will have a contract that you and the salon/stylist enter into for an extension service. This contract will state the price of the extension application, the date of the extension application, payment information and so forth. If the salon you visit does not fill out a contract for you DO NOT allow them to put extension in your hair. This omission says they are not experienced and do not put their extension service information in writing.

Quality extension salons must do a hair audit and then order your hair to meet your needs. Quality hair is very expensive and cannot be inventoried for all the client possibilities out there. Be sure to allow time for the hair audit and time for the salon to receive your custom hair order. This process only takes a couple of days.

NEVER allow a salon to do your haircolor and extensions in the same day! When hair is colored the hair cuticle us swollen and it takes approximately two days for the hair to return to the normal state. If you put extensions on swollen hair the hair extension strands will slide off VERY SOON. You would hate to spend all that money only to have your extensions slide out in only a few weeks.
