Men's Hair Loss Treatment Options for Men
Men's hair loss and going bald is a fact of life
for millions of men. Significant male pattern
baldness affects the lives of well over one-half
of adult men worldwide.
There are many possible causes of male hair
loss, however the man who experiences hair
loss usually finds that it is part of his individual genetic makeup.
Causes of Hair Loss in Men

1. Alopecia
The most common type of hair loss seen in women, also known as female pattern
alopecia or baldness. This is seen as hair thinning predominantly over the top and
sides of the head in females.
2. Physical and Emotional Stress
Surgeries, severe illnesses and emotional stress can cause hair loss. The body simply shuts down production of hair during periods of stress since it is not necessary for survival. The body devotes its energies to repairing vital body structures.
In many cases, there is a three month delay between actual event and onset of hair
loss. Additionally, there may be another three month delay prior to return of
noticeable hair regrowth.
This means that the total hair loss and regrowth cycle can last six months or possibly longer when induced by physical or emotional stress. There are some health
conditions which may go undetected that can contribute to thinning and baldness. These include anemia or low blood count and thyroid abnormalities. Both of these conditions can be detected by a simple, inexpensive blood test.
3. Hormonal Considerations
Hormonal changes are a common cause of hair loss. Many women do not realize that hair loss can occur after pregnancy or following discontinuation of birth control pills.

1. Androgenetic alopecia
When it comes to male baldness it's mostly genetic. Males hair loss happens because of a chemical called Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, which builds up around the hair follicle and eventually kills both the follicle and the hair. It's the hair's follicles resistance to DHT that is genetic. If you have relatives with thin hair or who are balding, there is a pretty good chance at some point you will experience the same male baldness or hair thinning.
2. Male Pattern Baldness
Male Pattern Baldness. Male-pattern baldness (also known as Alopecia) is the most common form of hair loss for men. Male pattern baldness represents about 90% of all hair loss cases. The result is either a receding hairline or thinning hair at the crown of the head. But don't feel like you are alone because over 40 million men in North America today are experiencing the same thing. And for all of the others, just wait, because by the age of 50 at least half of all men will experience hair loss of some kind, and from then on the numbers only climb.
